SC Raven wins REYFAD cup 2021/2022 season

The 2021/2022 campaign was the debut season for SC Ravens in the REYFAD Redemption League. Ravens had an amazing start to the season on match day 1 after being two goals down by halftime at home to Imola Jesu FC. A dominant performance in the second half saw chances converted with a hat-trick from Lase Adeye, a brace from Obi Charles and a goal in the closing minutes from Emmanuel Isaac to hand the team a 6-2 win.
Coach Ayoola’s boys made their intentions for league title very clear after a 13 goal destruction of Tic FC which put Ravens out of reach on points and goal difference of second placed King’s House. Michael Omotosho scored the first goal in the opening minutes of the game giving Ravens the lead. Man of the match Obi Charles lead the scoring with 4 goals, Lase Adeye and Emmanuel Isaac both bagged hat-tricks and 2 goals from Chinde Sunday wrapped up the game with a final score of 13 – 0.
Ravens remained at the top of the log and continued dominating the league but dropped points in a goalless against Car Park FC. The boys almost dropped points again a second time in an intense away game against Future Bright. The score line was 3-3 in the closing minutes of the game when a well worked team attack initiated from defense produced magic in the 90th minute to give Ravens a match winning goal ending the game 3-4.
On match day 13, Ravens suffered their first and only defeat of the entire campaign which put an end to a 12 game unbeaten run. One hand on the league trophy already, the team quickly got over the defeat and were back to winning ways. By match day 15, Ravens had the other hand on the trophy and were crowned league champions.
The top 4 clubs on the log at the end of the season faced off in the REYFAD Super 4 Competition where Ravens locked horns with Best Talent FC in a one legged semifinal tie. Best Talent FC failed to score any goals and lost the tie by 2 goals to Ravens who went on to face King’s House in the final. After a 1 – 1 draw at the end of extra time in the final, the match went to a penalty shootout, which Ravens won 9 – 8 to lift their second trophy of an amazing season.
